How Your Gift Helps

Neighborhood Music School depends on the generous support of its many friends and donors to remain true to its mission of making the highest quality music and dance instruction accessible to people of all economic circumstances.  It is through this support that NMS is able to provide financial aid and scholarships for students, pursue innovative new community programs, offer free public concerts and events, support our exceptional faculty and maintain our physical infrastructure, including the many pianos and other instruments belonging to the school.

NMS purposefully sets tuition well below actual cost so that as many people as possible can take advantage of everything the School has to offer.  In addition, NMS offers financial assistance to more than 350 students each year who participate in our regular enrollment programs and another 100 who participate in our community access programs.  NMS is also currently undergoing a significant capital project that will update the facilities at 100 Audubon Street including introducing new technology into more than 25 studios and creating an instructional recording facility.

As the Neighborhood Music School approaches its centennial anniversary in 2011, it is about to launch a new initiative to create a sustainable endowment to help secure its next 100 years.  Watch for more information about the Centennial activities in the months to come!
